A bit of my autobiography
It all started a long, long time ago
And according to my children,
in a galaxy far, far away...
Or maybe that’s another story…
Ok, my story started when I was born in Lafayette, Indiana.
A bit far back for this purpose, Melissa.
It’s my autobiography, Theodore, but I get your point. Let’s start with now and work our way around.
Great idea. You might add my beginning also.
Of course.
Now I live in the Texas Hill Country, with my husband of 41 years and a red miniature dachshund. Here it is much warmer, and the town is easier to spell then where I was born.
Quite right, I spent many years writing articles for newspapers, and also writing and editing newsletters. The newsletters were for diverse groups from Storytelling to Homeschooling to Soccer.
Football, Melissa!
Not in the U.S. Theodore, check it out.
Now where was I, oh from time to time I would join a writing group. One of these had writing prompts. One of those prompts and to be honest I am not sure what exactly the prompt was, but it inspired the story about a friend of Theodore’s named Reginald. Later, I found that Theodore had quite a story of his own. And so began my combining my love of cozy mysteries and science fiction. As you will learn Musa, Theodore’s home planet is more technologically advanced than Earth.
No Spoilers!
Ok Theodore, we will let the readers find out more when the book comes out.
Now that my children are grown and one has children of her own, I wanted to hone my craft. So, with the encouragement of my family and friends, I am taking writing classes, writing short stories and flash fiction. And working on my novel about our favorite blue mouse Theodore, who seems to pop up in many of my short stories and is helping with this website.
Tell them about your poetry and essays!
Right. I have begun writing short essays and poetry. These are often done during my Zen writing group. One of each has recently been published.
No Spoilers! Remember you don’t only write for Grown-ups.
Quite true. I am writing a children’s series called the “Rest of the story”. These are continuations of well-known stories like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Didn’t you ever wonder what happened after Goldie ran home? That’s what these stories are about, what happens after the stories you know are ended.
Tell them how much your grandchildren like them, and they will come out soon.
Yes, Theodore, thank you, I think you just did. I will add, my grandchildren are enjoying my stories and to my delight beg me to tell them. My grandson has requested all kinds of additions and some subtractions, which made me print the stories out so I didn’t forget important details.
So now we come to the website. As with my writings, It is my hope to bring a smile or two and a sigh of satisfaction to you the Readers. In addition, some fun and challenges, especially if you enjoy writing, reading, or telling stories. You will probably learn more about me as we go along.
Ahem...
Oh yes, and Theodore too!
